Wherever You Lay Your Hat

In both Ubombo and Kosi Bay, Volunteer teachers will be based in backpacker hostels set amidst the local Zulu or Tsonga communities.

Accommodation included is on a twin or dorm basis depending on volunteer numbers. Global Handprints will provide continental breakfasts, packed lunches and dinners each week day that teachers are on placement. Volunteer Teachers will be responsible for organizing their own lunches and dinners at the weekends, whether that’s buying ingredients and cooking at the hostel or eating out.

Both placement locations are within easy reach of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Sight with the estuary running down one side of town and the Indian Ocean lapping the beach of the other side. They provide a great base to explore the area through a variety of activities; Hippo and Croc boat tours, Game Drives, snorkeling, tiger fishing, whale watching, hiking, spear fishing, kayaking and cultural evenings to name a few. We work alongside local tour operators and can organize tours and activities either prior to your departure or on your arrival.

A placement on the TtT project can be booked a stand alone trip or added on to one of our Volunteer Road Trips, depending on how much time you have to spare to discover this beautiful country!
